Cooking with Clove Essential Oil
Use only diluted. Do not take more than one drop per day. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, face, sensitive areas and mucous membranes. In case of skin contact, dilute generously with a carrier oil.
Sourcing
Clove trees require humid tropical conditions. They have been growing on the island of Madagascar for nearly 200 years.
The clove tree is originally native to Southeast Asia, where most cultivated cloves are processed by the spice industry. It takes a clove tree about three years to become productive, but it can live for more than 100 years. The essential oil is extracted from flower buds that grow on the trees. Shortly before the buds open, they turn pale red, indicating that they are ready for harvest. After the buds are collected, they are dried in the sun. The essential oil is then extracted by steam distillation.
