How does it work?

Jasmine produces dark green leaves and delicate white flowers. To obtain the highest-quality aromatic compounds, it is important that the flowers are harvested and the oil extracted at precisely the right stage of blooming. Jasmine flowers open in the early morning hours before sunrise. They are carefully hand-picked, usually around 2:30 a.m., about six months after planting. Each harvester – most of whom are women – is responsible for a set number of plants whose flowers must be picked every day. The harvest season begins around June and lasts for several months. The flowers are too delicate for steam distillation, so an absolute is produced through solvent extraction instead. Wax and paraffin are used to separate the absolute from the volatile aromatic compounds so that the final product retains the greatest possible potency.
