Sourcing

Why Turkey?

Oregano grows wild in Turkey because the temperate climate of western and south-western Eurasia and the Mediterranean region is highly favourable for the plant.

How does it work?

From Turkey

Oregano is a perennial culinary and medicinal herb that can grow up to one metre tall. It is cultivated and used specifically for culinary purposes. Its essential oil is steam-distilled from the aerial parts of the plant. It is generally harvested when the wild plants are flowering, once or twice a year, although it can also be cultivated on farms. Our supplier in Turkey works with a network of several hundred local smallholder farmers.
