Why from the US state of Oregon?
Different climates and soil compositions affect peppermint in different ways. In the northwestern part of North America, regular and generous annual rainfall creates ideal growing conditions for peppermint. This also helps ensure a high menthol content, which gives peppermint its minty aroma and flavour.

How is it sourced?
Peppermint is a perennial herb created as a hybrid of water mint and spearmint. The essential oil is extracted from the above-ground parts of the plant. When peppermint is ready to harvest, it is cut at the base and left to dry in the field for several days, then crushed before distillation. Approximately half a kilogram of peppermint leaves is needed to produce 15 ml of essential oil. In autumn, the by-product of distillation is reused as mulch.
