Peppermint: Consistently one of dōTERRA’s best sellers, Peppermint is always a useful oil to have on hand. Peppermint essential oil adds a refreshing, minty taste to desserts, beverages, smoothies and even savoury dishes. A high menthol content – like that found in dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil – distinguishes the best-quality Peppermint oils from other products. Peppermint essential oil is also frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum to support oral hygiene.

Japanese Mint, botanically known as Mentha canadensis, is a species of mint native to both North America and East Asia. This perennial has many uses, and Japanese Mint essential oil is steam distilled from its leaves and stems. Although similar to Peppermint, Japanese Mint essential oil contains a higher percentage of menthol, giving it a stronger, more intensely minty aroma. For this reason, Japanese Mint is often selected as an ingredient in commercially available lozenges. From sweet treats to savoury dishes, a drop of Japanese Mint can add its distinctive character and flavour for a refreshing taste experience.

Bergamot Mint: Bergamot Mint essential oil comes from a flowering perennial herb with violet flowers and heart-shaped leaves. Despite its name, Bergamot Mint is not related to the bergamot fruit. Like Lavender, the main constituents of Bergamot Mint are linalool and linalyl acetate. Blended with Fractionated Coconut Oil, it is ideal for a soothing, comforting post-workout massage. Bergamot Mint’s lavender-like, minty aroma is also a wonderful addition to a warm, relaxing bath.

Spearmint: Spearmint is a sweet, refreshing herb widely used as a flavouring around the world. Its minty taste, which helps freshen breath, makes it popular in chewing gum, sweets and oral-care products. Spearmint essential oil differs in many ways from Peppermint, including offering a milder option for flavouring foods. In the kitchen, Spearmint is a wonderful addition to salads, drinks and desserts and can also be used in homemade salad dressings and marinades for meat.
